Forbidden Planet

In this sci-fi classic from 1956, a space ship and it's crew has set off across the galaxy to try and discover what has happened to a lost ship and it's passengers. About 20 years prior, the first ship landed on Altair IV, but nothing had been heard since. When Captain John J. Adams and his crew enter the orbit of Altair IV, they are warned by Dr. Morbius (a passenger of the previous ship) not to land, but the captain will not leave without fulfilling his mission to check on the safety of the first ship's passengers.

Upon landing, they are greeted by a robot called Robby that brings the captain to Dr. Morbius. He finds that the doctor is alive and well and has a daughter, but the rest of the ships passengeners had been killed by an unseen force and ripped limb from limb. It appears all the doctor wants is for these new visitors to depart and leave him in peace, but the captain cannot leave before receiving further instructions.

The next night an intruder sabotages some of the ships equipment, and they confront Dr. Morbius the next morning. He reveals he has been studying the planets previous inhabitants called the Krell.  He says that despite the fact that they were much more advanced than the people of Earth, they were wiped out by something unknown.

The captain orders a force field fence to be erected around the ship due to the sabotage, but the fence is breached and an officer is killed. To solve the puzzle of the invisible intruder, the captain must learn more about the Krell and the mysterious Dr. Morbius.

I watched this sci-fi sensation on family flix.
